God's Dangerous Book - Book Review

June 28, 2012

These days it is only the careless or the ignorant that ignore a new book from Nick Page. His writing style is engaging and youthful, whilst his work is informative, positive and fun!

I shake with fear when I consider the amount of research and hard work that has gone into producing this book, and yet the real terror comes from the thought that you may not actually read it.

A very real problem in the church today is the lack of knowledge and understanding of the Bible. This volume will help the new convert, the young person or the older Christian to come to terms with the Bible that we depend on.

I have a very short list of ‘must read’ books for everyone who has chosen the Christian life, and very rarely do I add a new one to it - this is the latest!

God’s Dangerous Book is history – the historical journey of the Word of God to becoming the Bible next to your bedside. This book is not dry, dusty or boring though – it is a thrilling ride through the centuries that will empower your Bible reading and understanding of the inspired word of God.

You will be amazed at some of the history behind the pages of your Bible – you will also be amused. As you turn the pages you could be forgiven for hearing his fingers tapping out the words onto his keyboard and also for recognising the times at which his tongue was firmly in his cheek.

What ‘Horrible Histories’ is for kids, this book is for those of all ages who want to understand where their Bible came from.

Nick is orthodox in his belief system, but honest in his portrayal of the tensions of Biblical translation.

An empowering read!
